About Us

The Renaissance of Château Capion and its wines started when we, Adrian & Birgit Buhrer, bought the property in 1996.

Owning a wine estate for about a decade before purchasing Château Capion we know exactly how and where to direct our energy. Saxenburg situated in the prime wine district of Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands of South Africa was bought as an historical (dating back to the 17th century) but neglected property. Saxenburg now produces highly acclaimed wines.

Almost two decades ago Britains most esteemed wine writers were already saying that Southern France was building a reputation for exciting wines of the highest quality.

The process has accelerated dramatically and our wines we are proud to say are speaking for themselves proving this to be true.
