The Tasting Room

The Tasting Room is situated in the Vintner’s House. Surrounded by vineyards and opposite the Old Cellar it is the perfect location for a Tasting Room. The property is steeped in history but brought into the 21st century with state-of the-art cellar equipment. The Gassac Valley and vineyards offers a feast for the eyes. The erotic aromas of the garrigue are far removed from the modern metropolis of nearby Montpellier.

This tasting room makes a statement. As you enter the Vintner’s House your eye will immediately be draw to the stained glass window depicting the different season in the viticulture year. The window together with the impressive granite table suggests a church dais.

Whilst tasting the wines of Capion you can enjoy the artwork which adorns the walls and gallery. The different fruits symbolise the various grape varieties grown at Capion and our new estate wine “Fiona” (Fiona is the celtic word for “fairy”). For example the lemon tree represents the Roussane and the tobacco represents the Syrah. The two prestigious single vineyard wines, the crus “Le Juge” and “Le Colombier” are represented by the waterfall and the rabbits in the garrigue. The scales symbolise our endeavour to find balance and perfection in our wines. The huge oil painting of Château Capion is there to represent our premium wine; “Château Capion”.

During the winter, guests are welcomed to sit by the log fire and relax in the sitting room. A range of red, white and rose wines are available for tasting and visitors can purchase from the Tasting Room.

There is no charge for tastings.
